It's Hair Wash Day!

So lately a lot of people have been asking me "what products do you use in your hair"? Since I've been natural, I have sort of developed a routine for my hair wash days. I have a few staple products that I use consistently because they have worked for me so far, but hey that could change up with time so we'll see. The products I use after I wash my hair are:

Coconut oil: I use this as my moisturizer

Castor oil: I use this to seal in moisture

Jojoba oil: this works great for added shine to natural hair

I also use an oil mixture that I make up in a wrap bottle for maintenance throughout the week, but that's a whole other post lol. Whew! Who knew natural hair would be so much hard work but I LOVE my hair!

Natural Hair Don't Care

So I've decided to go completely natural in 2013. This is my second attempt at natural (relaxer free) hair. I tried it back in 2004 and within six months I back-slid and went back to the creamy crack. Well, here I am again. I hope to stick to my goal this time around. I just feel like the relaxers are so damaging to my hair. Here is a photo of the BC a.k.a Big Chop I did on New Year's Day. I cut off over five inches.

Garlic Chicken Pasta

Hello all, I know it's been a while since I've blogged, but life has been really busy lately! My family loves pasta and the other day I whipped up a recipe from scratch that I just had to share with you guys. Of course, you can tweak it a little bit and add or omit ingredients to fit your taste buds. Enjoy :-)

Ingredients:

16 oz. package of fettuccine noodles
1/3 cup margarine
2 tsp. minced garlic
3 chicken breasts
all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon Lawry's seasoning salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon curry seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 (5 ounce)package baby spinach leaves
5 whole mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup of water

Directions:

1. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to boil over high heat. Once water is boiling, stir in fettuccine noodles and follow cooking directions on package.

2. While pasta cooks, cut chicken breasts into strips and season with Lawry's and curry powder. Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Saute' spinach, mushrooms, and minced garlic. Add chicken and cook until no longer pink.

3. Pour cream into skillet with the chicken and veggies and reduce to a simmer. In another small pot, melt butter and add water. Slowly stir in flour, stirring well until it becomes a pastie "rue" consistency, then remove pot from heat. Add a teaspoon of the rue into skillet with cream, stirring continuously. Keep adding the rue a little bit at a time until sauce becomes thick, to your liking.

4. Stir in the cayenne pepper, paprika, ground black pepper, salt, and garlic powder. Add cooked pasta, bring to a simmer.

Bon Appetit!!
