Write Down Your Vision And Watch It Manifest

“Without a vision the people perish.” Proverbs 29;18

It's the start of a new year and this is the time where many people set new goals that they would like to accomplish. The first step in goal setting is to write it down, sort of like a journal. Next, visualize it.  A few years back someone turned me on to a life changing book and dvd called "The Secret". Basically, it is about the law of attraction and how positive thoughts are powerful magnets that attract wealth, health, and happiness. The book also touches on how negative thoughts can have an affect on your life as well. One thing that stuck out to me in the dvd was the Vision Board, so I made one.

What is a vision board? It's a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. A very basic and fun way of creating a Vision Board is by taking a big piece of cardboard, scissors, glue and tons of magazines. Cut and paste a collage of positive words and images that you’ve torn out from various magazines onto the cardboard. The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of the things you want to become, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires. What is the point? Sometimes, as adults life gets busy and we constantly get bombarded with distractions and lose focus on the things that we desire. What a Vision Board does is:
  • Identify your vision and give it clarity.
  • Reinforce your daily affirmations.
  • Keep your attention on your intentions.
For instance, before we relocated to Los Angeles a couple of months ago, I had no idea that we would actually live there one day. I knew that LA is where my husband and I desired to live and raise our children, so I cut out images of beaches and tropical places and pasted them on my vision board. By doing this, it added clarity to my desire, and feeling to my vision. Literally within six months, we packed up  and moved to California! No it's not magic, the thing is, you have to have a clear desire and intent of what you want. A good practice to do before you begin your vision board is sit quietly and set the intent. Once you dream it, the next step is to BELIEVE it. I look at my board every morning before I start my day and every night before I go to bed. It's a constant reminder of where I intend to be.

You should try it. Whether you're trying to finish up your degree, start your own business, buy a house or planning your dream vacation, a vision board might just be the most important thing you do for yourself this year!
